Forever Alone in Silence

When you get to Korea as a native teacher, remember one thing: you may be the only person in your school that speaks English well enough to have a a conversation. While this is usually not the case, you can pretty much expect to be sitting in silence at the lunch table, at school dinners, and through most of the day (when you aren't teaching of course).

My personal experience is that I sit in silence at lunch, have very brief conversations between classes, and am by myself for the rest of the day. It doesn't bother me much, but some people can't take not being able to speak to people throughout the day. If that bothers you, I would recommend taking a job at an English center or village somewhere where there are plenty of English speaking folks.
