A Home Cooked Meal

Today was amazing. After being told I could go home early because I looked tired, I decided I was going to get some things done. This included doing laundry, buying food, and moving some furniture around in my apartment. Once I had everything situated where I wanted in my apartment, I headed out into the wild to find some laundry detergent and a little food. This is when I found a back alley market with a "Korean dollar general" type store that sold tons of apartment supplies. After entering through the wrong door on the wrong side of the store and being beat up with Korean eyes, I started the long process of looking at random bangs filled with Hangul (Korean writing) to figure out which one contained detergent. Long story short, I got the right one.

I then decided, around 6pm that I needed to head down to the local homeplus express (thank you Noona!) to get some food for my place. That is when the other Americans in my building grabbed me and told me to come with them to eat. Seeing as I love food and a friendly face, I followed.

We met up with Daniel's, one of the Americans, Korean friend and followed him up to his mother's apartment. This is when the night turned to magic. As we entered the apartment, the sweet smell of cooked Korean food filled our noses. This kind Korean lady had cooked us a home cooked meal. It was unreal. It was also some of the most amazing food I have eaten in a while.

So what is the moral of this story? Korean people are kind, giving, and generous. I can't wait to keep exploring tomorrow! In fact, we have a big adventure planned, so check back for that post!
